William Henry Reed Sr., age 87 of Millville died suddenly Wed., July 2, 2014 at the Inspira Medical Center, Vineland.
Born in Alloway, he grew up in Salem and Woodstown and had lived in Millville for 47 years.
William was known as a hard worker. He had worked for West Co. of Millville until he retired. Prior to that and for many years, he had worked for Wheaton Glass Co. as a machine operator. Early on and briefly he had worked for Seabrook Farms. Prior to fulfilling his military service he had worked as a farmer.
He entered the Army and served for two years in the Artillery during the Korean War.
He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Vineland.
He is survived by his wife Verna Carla (Hymer); three sons, William Reed III and William H. Reed Jr., both of Millville, and Don Hymer of Cedarville; three daughters, Sharon Norcross and husband Albert of Cedarville, Henrietta Mastrondo and husband Angelo of Millville, and Pat Blizzard of Millville; ten grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, July 10, at 11 a.m. in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad St., Millville. There will be a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. before the service.
Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Millville.
