Wilfredo Cortes, affectionately known to many as "Glassboro", a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 28th, 2026, at his residence in Millville, NJ. He was born in the town of Salto Abajo, Utuado, Puerto Rico, where his journey began.

Wilfredo was a man of many talents and passions. He dedicated much of his life to his craft as a baker at Mister Donut in Millville, NJ, where he was known for his warm smile and delicious creations. Over the years, he also ventured into various sales roles, selling cars and furniture, and worked at DeSoto Jewelers in Vineland. Later, he served as a security officer in Vineland schools, always ensuring the safety and well-being of others.

A man of deep faith, Wilfredo was actively involved in All Saints Parish, Millville, NJ.  He also worked with the Methodist church for many years. He was a dedicated cursillista, frequently attending retreats that enriched his spiritual life. His commitment to helping others was evident in his work with immigrants in Bridgeton, where he offered support and guidance to those in need.

Wilfredo had a zest for life and enjoyed simple pleasures such as playing dominos, pool, and his guitar. He cherished the moments spent with Benny Soto and many dear friends, creating memories that will be treasured forever.

Wilfredo is survived by his cherished wife of 60 years Aurea Cortes (nee Matos).  He is also survived by his loving children: Elizabeth Cortes, Lizette Cortes, Auria M. Rodriguez (Ramon), Wilfredo Cortes Jr. (Lauren), and Damaris Cerda (Juan). Wilfredo was a proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his sister, Benigna Afanador Cortes, as well as many nieces, nephews, and godchildren.  Wilfredo was preceded in death by his parents, Confessor Cortes and Isabel Alvarez.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at a viewing to be held at Christy Funeral Home, 11 West Broad St., Millville, NJ, on Saturday, September 5th, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. A Funeral Mass will follow at the Parish of All Saints, Buck and Depot Sts., Millville, NJ, at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Millville.

Wilfredo's legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to his family and community will forever be remembered. Memories of Wilfredo and condolences for his family may be shared on his tribute wall.
