Susan Elizabeth Davis Obituary

Susan Elizabeth Davis, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, passed away suddenly on Sunday, October 20th, 2024, at the age of 79. Born in New York, NY, Susan's life was a testament to love, dedication, and service to others.

Susan was a cherished resident of Millville, NJ, where she devoted many years to her vocation as a Special Education teacher with Millville Public Schools. Her passion for education and her genuine care for her students left an indelible mark on countless lives. Her many other passions included nurturing flowers and gardening, traveling and spending quality time with family and friends. She particularly enjoyed vacationing in Ocean City, NJ, dancing Zumba, indulging her sweet tooth, taking leisurely walks with her husband, shopping, and staying active through working out.

Susan's legacy continues through her loving family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Deacon Russell O. Davis, Jr., her loving sons, Dr. Russell O. Davis III (Marybeth), Dr. Brian Davis (Kelly), and Matthew Davis (Katherine), and her cherished grandchildren, Declan, Drew, Brooke, Delany, Ryan, Samuel, and Mateo. She also leaves behind her brother, Joseph Carlozzo, Jr. (Aileen), her sister, Laurie Poeschel (Mike), and several beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Sophie Carlozzo, whom she loved deeply.

After moving from North Jersey to South Jersey to be with her husband, she always cherished her trips back to visit her beloved parents, siblings, and extended family. During her early married years, she traveled the East Coast to passionately support with her husband their three sons at their soccer and sporting events. A true sports enthusiast, she enjoyed watching Philadelphia sports teams alongside her husband and sons, sometimes being the last one awake to catch the end of a game.

As her children grew, Susan found new ways to engage with her community. She rode with the Multiple Sclerosis 150 Holy Rollers team, volunteered with Hospice, and participated in veterans’ outreach at the Millville Army Airfield Museum. A woman of deep faith, she contributed her time to St. John Bosco and later All Saints parish, serving as a Eucharistic minister, Lector, RCIA teacher, volunteer in funeral ministry and as a teacher for English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). She also supported her husband in his ministry as a Deacon.
Upon becoming a grandmother to seven, she reignited her love for sports fandom by attending countless grandchildren’s games and activities. Her unwavering devotion, generous heart, and unconditional love will be remembered forever.

Family, friends, and community members are invited to attend viewings held on Tuesday, October 29th, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with a family eulogy at 7:45 pm, and again on Wednesday, October 30th, 2024, from 9:00 am to 10:15 am at Christy Funeral Home, 11 West Broad St., Millville, NJ. A funeral mass will begin on Wednesday at 11:00 am at the Parish of All Saints, Buck & Depot Sts., Millville, NJ. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Millville, NJ. In her spirit of giving, Susan's family kindly requests, in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy be made through financial donations or devoting time to a charity of choice. Memories of Susan and condolences for her family may be shared on her tribute wall.
