Stephen G. Lauser, Sr., 71, of Millville died Wed., March 6, 2013 in the Deborah Heart and Lung Hospital, Browns Mills after a brief illness.
Born Sept. 14, 1941 in Olean, NY, he grew up in Allegany, NY and graduated from Allegany Central High School. He moved to Millville in 1963.
He had worked for Wheaton Glass Co. for 34 years and retired as an I. S. repairman. He was a member of GMP Local No. 219. In his retirement he worked in the local NAPA store for ten years, then worked for Bee Brothers Towing Co., of Vineland.
He had a number of hobbies, but NASCAR was his passion with Dale Earnhart Sr. his favorite driver. He also enjoyed attending farm auctions in Lancaster, PA. He was capable of, and never turned down, repairing all vehicles, however he hated repairing Fords. He enjoyed fishing off of Cape Hatteras, NC, and traveling and seeing the world. He had many friends and it is said he never met a stranger. He will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Dianne L. (Sanderlin) of Millville; a daughter Linda Polhamus and husband Jeff of Millville; two sons, Keith Lauser and Mike Risley of Millville; four brothers, Jack (Martha) and Jim (Deanna) Lauser, all of AL, Alan (Cathy) Lauser of NY, and Dick (Peggy Jo) Lauser of FL; two sisters, Helen Long and Kathy (Larry) Button, all of NY; and one granddaughter Kara Polhamus, whom he adored.
He was predeceased by a son, Stephen Lauser Jr. in 1981, his parents Oliver and Emma Lauser; and his beloved dog Browning.
There will be a viewing Mon., March 11, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad St., Millville. A service will be held starting at 8 p.m.
Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
