Rose C. Forcinito (Cuccia), 86, passed away on June 6, 2023. She was born in Millville to the late Joseph and Mary Cuccia.
She spent her grade school years at St. Mary Magdalen Grammar School and Sacred Heart High School, going on to attend Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia and New Jersey State Teacher’s College in Glassboro. She began her career in elementary education at Deerfield Township School in Rosenhayn and eventually became a librarian and religion teacher at St. Mary Magdalen in Millville. She also worked at Durand International in Millville and was a partner with her husband in two businesses in Millville, Dura-Clean Rug and Upholstery Cleaners and Holly City Furniture.
Rose had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel. After college, she took a cross-country road trip with the girls, and she often shared stories of her childhood trips to Philadelphia with her aunts and uncles, as well as of her trips to Italy and California with her beloved husband. She was also a lifelong Philadelphia Phillies fan.
Rose was an avid reader who was interested in current events, cooking, and music, which was her passion. She was a self-taught pianist and organist who, from the ages of 13 to 80, played for St. Mary Magdalene, St. John Bosco, St. Rose of Lima, and other local parishes. She was also a member of the choir and director of the children’s choir for many years.
She is survived by her husband of almost 63 years, Peter V.; children, Carmella Trivellini (Robert), of Vineland, Rosalie Forcinito, of Millville, Anthony Forcinito, of Las Vegas, Nevada; two granddaughters, Lara and Gina Trivellini; a brother, George Cuccia, of Millville; sisters-in-law Sue Forcinito and Tomasina Forcinito, of Vineland; and many cousins, as well as nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to join with Rose’s family for a viewing on Sunday June 11, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, and again on Monday June 12, 2023 from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad St., Millville, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11:00 am at All Saints Parish, 621 Dock St., Millville. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Millville. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rose may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Southern New Jersey or South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter. Memories of Rose and condolences for her family may be shared on her tribute wall.
