Roland Corson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, left us on Thursday, February 6th, 2025. Roland was born in Millville, NJ and raised his family across the street from his family's homestead. He had been a longtime resident Millville, before moving to Stone Harbor, NJ, where he currently resided.
Roland is survived by his devoted wife, Margaret Irene Corson (nee Edge), of Stone Harbor, NJ. He leaves behind a loving family, including his children: Christine Corson Tice, Douglas Corson, and Patricia Corson Robbins. Roland was a proud grandfather to Jennifer Finch, Lauren Daigle, Jamie Corson, Erin Homan, Christopher Homan, Alexander Robbins, and Caroline Robbins, and a great-grandfather to ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Paula Corson, and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. Corson Sr. and Christine Corson (nee Strang), as well as his brother, Robert L. Corson, Jr.
Roland dedicated 25 years of his life to his career as a civil engineer, working with Ole Hanson in Pleasantville, NJ. He was a proud Army veteran and a graduate of Millville High School, Class of 1953, and the University of Delaware, Class of 1958, where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity. Roland was a licensed Professional Land Surveyor and Civil Engineer in NJ and PA. He was a partner in the Engineering Office of Barber, Corson, McCafferty in Millville, NJ, and held significant roles at John Dunn Construction, Haddon Heights, NJ; Earthwork, Woodbine, NJ; and Arthur Henry, Linwood, NJ.
Roland's engineering legacy includes the construction of notable bridges in Mauricetown, Ocean City, Sea Isle City, and Cape May, NJ, as well as contributions to the development of roads throughout New Jersey, particularly Rt. 55, and the Philadelphia International Airport Runway E.
An avid tennis and basketball player, Roland also enjoyed playing golf with his partners Fred, Rich, and Harry. He was the biggest cheerleader of "The Mouse," taking 13 memorable trips to Disney World over Christmas and Veterans Day with his entire family, always sporting his trusty Reebok sneakers.
A graveside service for Roland will be held privately at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Millville, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Stone Harbor Fire and Rescue, PO Box 539, Stone Harbor, NJ 08247, or the First United Methodist Church, PO Box 116, Millville, NJ 08332. Memories of Roland and condolences for his family may be shared on the tribute wall. Roland's legacy of love, laughter, and engineering excellence will forever be remembered by all who knew him.
