Robert “Bob” Raymond Wangstrom, 88, died Friday at Inspira Hospital in Vineland.
Born in Millville, Bob was a lifelong resident and graduated from Millville High School and attended Cumberland County College for two years.
Bob served 2 years in the Army and was assigned to the Marne division in Germany. Bob was also a member of the NATO TapToe drill team in Arnhem, Holland.
Bob worked in the Mould department at Wheaton Glass Company for more than 40 years. During his career he was a mould maker, foreman, and materials manager. While part of the union, he was president of the American Flint Glass Worker’s Union, representing mould makers in the Millville area.
Bob was a lifelong member of All Saints Parish, formerly Saint Mary Magdalene Parish. He was actively involved throughout the years as a lector, volunteer in the food bank, and counting collection.
In addition to building the house where he raised his family, Bob also enjoyed wood working and building furniture. He was an avid reader and loved history and mystery books. He was well traveled, visiting many of the National Parks, Panama Canal, Alaska, Hawaii, Russia, Estonia, Holland, Belgium, Finland, Germany, Czech Republic, and Columbia.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice, daughters Deborah (Keith Jones), Mullica Hill, NJ and Elizabeth Wangstrom (Jim Sikorski), Woolwich Township, NJ, grandsons Nathaniel Jones, Philadelphia, and Benjamin Jones, Mullica Hill, and a granddaughter Alexandra Sikorski, Washington, DC.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 14th , at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints Parish, Buck and Depot Streets, Millville. Friends will be received Thursday from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. in Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad Street, Millville. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Millville.
