Robert L. Smith Sr., age 78 of Millville, passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 30, 2013 at his residence.
Born and raised in Bridgeton, he graduated from Bridgeton High School, and was a life long Cumberland County resident.
Mr. Smith was a skilled meat cutter, working at various companies throughout his life. For the past six years he was employed by Shop Rite in Vineland.
He was a lifetime member of the B.P.O Elks of Millville, and a member of the UFCW Local No. 56. He enjoyed cooking, baking, fishing, making stained glass windows, and playing pool.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife Violet (Poloff); one daughter Sheila and husband Randy Boston of Vineland; one son Robert Smith Jr. and wife Stacy Wilson Smith of Port Norris; one brother George Smith of Bridgeton; two sisters, Marge Burkhart of Hopewell, and Anna Richardson of SC; five grandchildren, Shari and husband Joe Peters, Justin, Wilson, Glenn and Jared Smith; two great grandchildren, Anthony Peters, and Jackson Smith; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four sisters, Vera Smith, Betty Angelinni, Judy Espinosa, and Jenny Zarichta.
Funeral services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are under the direction of Christy Funeral Home, Millville.
