Robert H. Ford Sr., age 68 of Millville, passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at his residence.
Born and raised in Millville, he was a life long resident.
Since 1965, Mr. Ford worked in quality control for Gerresheimer Glass-formerly Wheaton Glass Company, and retired. For several years, he was a league officer for Little League Baseball, and scorekeeper and officer for Babe Ruth, totaling 19 years.
He was an active member of the Fairfield Presbyterian Church, and a member of the GMP Local No. 219. Mr. Ford was a walking trivia encyclopedia. He was an avid Flyers fan, enjoyed watching sports, and watching tennis with Robin. Mr. Ford was a devoted father and grandfather. Spending time with his family was a priority, whether it was his weekly dinners with Pam, or breakfast with his brother Walt, or traveling to hockey games with Mike and Mikey, he will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Mr. Ford is survived by his loving children, Robin Kerr and Jerry Reeves of Millville, Robert Ford Jr. and Bobbie Sumpter of Millville, Pam Austen and husband Greg of Millville, Michael Ford and wife Cindy of Millville, and Charles Ford Sr. of Camden; two brothers, Walter Ford Jr. and wife Ann of Millville, and Paul Ford of Millville; 13 grandchildren, Jonathan Lonabaugh, Rachel Lonabaugh, Caitlyn Ford, Mikey John Ford, Matthew Austen, Candace Ford, Megan Ford, Tim Austen, Lindsay Kerr, Charles Ford Jr., Emily Austen, Tyler Ford and Christopher Ford; and six great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Charlynn (Foster) in 2008; his parents, Walter J. Ford Sr. and Helen (Young); and his sister in law Ruby Ford in 2013.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2014 in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad Street, Millville. Viewings will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Millville.
