Phyllis J. Phillips, 77, of Millville, passed away after a brief illness on March 21, 2014. She was predeceased by her parents, Leon (Mac) and Estelle MacDougall, who welcomed her into this world on August 25, 1936. She was a lifelong resident of Millville, graduating with honors from Millville High School in 1953. She worked as a dental assistant for 15 years at Periodontal Associates of South Jersey in Vineland, NJ. Taking an early retirement in 1977, Phyllis followed her dream of having her own business. She and her son Keith owned and operated the Cookie Jar and the Butcher Block Deli in the Cumberland Mall. For 22 years, Mrs. P's chocolate chip cookies satisfied many a sweet tooth. Phyllis retired from the Cookie Jar in 2000 and was able to pursue her travel interests. Maui was her favorite destination. As well as traveling, she cherished time spent with family, often sharing wonderful meals she had created.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, John, and their three sons, Keith Phillips and his wife Lorraine of Wildwood Crest, NJ, Dr. Jeff Phillips and his wife Lori of Salem, Oregon and Brad Phillips of Laurel Lake, NJ. Phyllis has four grandsons, Thomas Phillips, Matthew Phillips and Travis Phillips all of Millville, Patrick Phillips of Portland, Oregon and a great grandson, Tommy Phillips of Millville. Phyllis also leaves behind her sister and favorite travel companion, Carol Fauerbach of Leicester, MA and her nephews, Kurt Fauerbach of Milford, MA and his family, and Michael Fauerbach of Stonington, CT and his family.
Services will be held on Thursday, March 27th at Christy Funeral Home, 11 West Broad Street, Millville, NJ. Family and friends will be received at the Funeral Home from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM followed immediately by a memorial service. Interment will be private.
