Paul Alan Whilden Sr., age 69 of Millville, died Friday, October 11, 2013 at his residence after a brief illness.
Born and raised in Millville, Mr. Whilden graduated from Millville High School, class of 1963.
He worked for Wheaton Glass Co. and then was drafted by the U.S. Army. He served in the military police during the Vietnam War as an SP4.
Mr. Whilden worked in construction, and then he worked for Keen Company until it closed. For the next 18 years, he worked as a Chief Operating Engineer at the Woodbine Developmental Center and retired.
Mr. Whilden was a member of the Operating Engineers Union No. 195, and the VFW No. 6257 of Belleplain. He was an avid motorcyclist and he had a great love for music.
Mr. Whilden is survived by his wife Dawn Ross; four children, Paul A. Jr. and his fiancée Kathy Wehling of Millville, Carol Dowd of Pittsgrove, Donna Bradford and husband Jim of Milmay, and Allan Ross of Millville; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
