Norman Robert Omahne Sr., age 91 of Millville, passed away Wednesday morning, June 26, 2013 at his residence.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA, he graduated from Connelly Vocational High School in 1942 and then joined the U.S. Navy. He served from 1942 to 1945 as a Gunner's Mate Third Class.
For 30 years Mr. Omahne worked as a machinist for Maul Brothers and retired. Prior to that, he worked for Westinghouse in Pittsburgh, PA.
Mr. Omahne was a member of the GBBA Local No. 250. He formerly attended St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Millville. He played professional soccer when he lived in Pittsburgh. Mr. Omahne enjoyed fishing, building log cabins, working with his hands, and he was an avid golfer. He built model train displays and he was an avid Philadelphia and Pittsburgh sports fan.
Mr. Omahne is survived by five sons, Norman R. Omahne Jr. of Pittsburgh,
Ronald, Douglas, Mark and Scott Omahne, all of Millville; one daughter Debra L. Rubert of Millville; 13 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. He was predeceased by his wife Ruth (Schnider) in 2002; one son Robert; one brother; and three sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2013 in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad Street, Millville. There will be a viewing on Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Millville.
