Miriam (Roedel) Anderer, age 84 of Millville, died Sat., March 2, 2013 in Cumberland Manor, Bridgeton, after an extended illness. Although Miriam's illness lasted for over eight years, she was well cared for by her family and the staff of Cumberland Manor.
Born in Millville, she grew up there and was a graduate of Millville High School, class of 1946. She furthered her education and graduated from Mercer Hospital, Trenton in 1948 as a Registered Nurse. She married Gordon Anderer on Sept. 23, 1950 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Millville. After living briefly in Trenton and Louisville, KY, Miriam and Gordon returned to Millville and lived many happy years at their home on Union Lake Road.
Miriam served as an Industrial Nurse with the Millville Office of the Prudential Insurance Company for 30 years and retired in 1986. Prior to that she had worked briefly in the operating room of the Millville Hospital under the direction of Dr. Alfred Davies.
In her retirement she was a volunteer for the Red Cross Blood Bank and a member of the "Friends of the Millville Library." She was an avid reader and took pride in completing the New York Times Crossword puzzle. Once retired she was "nurse on call" for all of her friends and relatives living in the Millville area.
Miriam was an avid knitter, bridge player, and traveler. She enjoyed her yearly visit to Colorado where she and her husband rode horses in and throughout the Jackson Hole area.
She is survived by her brother Paul R. Roedel; three nieces Beth James and Meg Mueller of Shillington, PA, and Marge Corson of Stone Harbor.
She was predeceased by her husband Gordon Anderer May 24, 2007; and her parents Charles H. and Irene M. (Voorhees) Roedel.
Private services will be held; Burial will take place in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Millville.
