Mario Santiago Sr., age 85 of Millville passed away at his residence Sat. afternoon, Dec. 21, 2013 surrounded by his family.
He was born in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico.
An employee for the Wheaton Glass Co. for 20 years, he worked as a mechanic in the Mold Shop and retired in 1990. He was a member of the GBBA Union.
He was a member of All Saints Parish St. Mary Magdalen Church of Millville.
He loved salt water fishing, particularly catching weak fish. He was an avid N. Y. Yankees fan and he enjoyed playing dominos and going to horse race tracks.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Rosa Santiago; five daughters, Madeline Santiago, Minerva Sauro and husband Anthony, Mildred Santiago and husband Mike, and Rosa Santiago all of Millville, and Carmen Gonzalez and husband Ernesto of Vineland; two sons, Mario Santiago Jr. and wife Edith and Michael Santiago and wife Lisa, both of Millville; and Michael Walker of Millville, who was like a son. Also surviving are, brothers and sisters: Johnny Santiago, José Santiago, Noel Santiago, Amando Santiago, Rucinda Vega, and Amelia Santiago; 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, 15 nieces, 6 nephews, and 20 cousins survive.
He was predeceased by his parents, Bernadino and Carmen (Troché) Santiago, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Dec. 27, at 11 a.m. in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad St., Millville.
There will be a calling hour from 9 to 11 a.m. before the service.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Millville.
