Marie T. Eckert, age 97 of Millville, died suddenly Sunday, May 18, 2014 in Inspira Medical Center, Vineland.
Born in Philadelphia, PA on Christmas Day, 1916, she grew up in Millville and lived there the remaining years of her life.
She had worked for Kerr Glass Co. until she retired. Prior to that she worked in the Cotton Mill as a spinner for 45 years until it closed. She was a member of the GBBA Union.
She attended St. Mary Magdalen Roman Catholic Church and St. John Bosco Catholic Church, both of Millville.
She devoted her time to her family. For 50 years she enjoyed the "Girls' Club," playing cards, and traveling. Those who knew her will remember her as a wonderful, caring and giving person.
She is survived by three daughters, Sandra Huff and Lou Pleis of Millville, Regina Mae Green of Bridgeton, Trudy Dobbs and Bob Kurtin of DE; two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Langsdorf and Elva Everland; grandchildren, Billy and Donna Smith, Steven and Peggy Huff, George and Michelle Huff, and Ray Huff, all of Millville; Regina Marie and Cory Lee of TN, Teresa Weldon, Crystal Weldon and Pete Ingraldi, of Millville, John Kurtin and Evy of DE, and Charles Dobbs of Vineland; great-grandchildren include Steven Huff Jr., Darren Huff, George Huff Jr., Savanah Huff, Brianna and Brandon Leek, Michael Brandon, Edward Torres Jr., Robert Hannah Jr., and Brittany Dilks; great-great-granddaughter Lily Marie; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband George H. Eckert; her parents Ben and Mae (Van Dusen) Langsdorf; five brothers; and a sister.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 23, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad St., Millville. There will be a viewing in the funeral home before the service from 9 to 11 a.m.
Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Millville.
