Mabel Carey (Banks) Fisher, age 98 of Millville, passed away Friday morning, November 1, 2013 at the Crest Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Cape May Court House, after an extended illness.
Mabel was born in Millville to the late Howard L. Banks and Mary (Bailey). In 1933, she graduated from Millville Senior High School and was a life long resident.
She worked for Armstrong Cork Co. until the end of World War II, and then became a homemaker.
Since 1932, Mabel had been an active member of the Second United Methodist Church, where she was a Girl Scout and Brownie Troop Leader for nine years, and she also taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the Eastern Star, and she was active in the Masonic Camping Club "The Rainmakers." She enjoyed camping with the Air Stream Group. She liked doing crossword puzzles, crafts and needle work.
Mabel is survived by her nephew Otis McKaig and his wife Amanda of South Dennis; one niece Dorothy Windish of Egg Harbor Township; and her neighbor and good friend Carol Cossaboon. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Fisher in 1997; and her brother Lynwood Banks.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad Street, Millville. There will be a viewing on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Millville.
