John Alexander Merillo, age 57, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 22nd, 2026. Born in Staten Island, New York, John was a longtime resident of Millville, NJ.

John dedicated his professional life to his work as a diesel mechanic for several companies over the years, most recently at the Cumberland County Improvement Authority in Rosenhayn, New Jersey. Known for his skill and dedication, he took great pride in working with his hands, a passion that extended beyond his career and into his personal life.

John was a man of deep introspection and spent much of his time recently relearning his faith and reconnecting with family, values that were dear to his heart. He was a loving father to his late son, Shawn Cook, and a loving fiancee to Stacey Jacobs. His siblings, Sandy Eisler and Jean Marie Potter, will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.  He is also survived by his step daughters Paige Risley, Stephanie Risley, and Kellie Chamberlain; and grand children Damien and Hope Chamberlain.

Preceded in death by his father, Anthony Merillo, and his mother, Susan Clark, John is now reunited with them in eternal peace. His legacy of love and resilience will continue to inspire those who knew him.

In accordance with his wishes, a private cremation will be held. Friends and family are invited to share their memories of John and offer condolences on his tribute wall.
