Joan E. (Rutherford) Souders, age 68 of Millville, passed away peacefully, Friday morning, September 6, 2013 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Warsaw, NY, Mrs. Souders grew up in Millville, and graduated from Millville High School.
For over 22 years, she worked as a machine operator for Holly City Packaging. Prior to that, she was employed by The West Co. and Wheaton Glass Co., both of Millville.
She enjoyed doing puzzles, exploring historical sites, and she loved spending time with her family, friends and pets.
Mrs. Souders is survived by three sons, Paul Souders, Albert Souders and his wife Cathy, and John Souders; one sister Susan Likanchuk; three grandchildren, Nathan Souders and his wife Heather, Albert Jr., and Amber Souders; two great grandchildren, Nathan Jr. and Lily Souders; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved pets, Putney and Penny. She was predeceased by one son Lawrence "Larry" Souders; her parents, Tilmer and Laura (Evans) and her siblings, Kathleen Fowler, George Rutherford and Nancy Errickson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad Street, Millville. There will be a viewing on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Millville.
