James Robert Dowd, Sr.

James Robert Dowd Sr., age 85, of Cape May Court House, NJ, passed away on Thursday February 9, 2023. Beloved husband of the late Linda Dowd. Loving father of James R. Dowd Jr. (Rita), Zoe Wagner (Robert), and the late Raymond Slater. Proud grandfather of 4, and great-grandfather of 4. He is also survived and will be sadly missed by many friends.

James was born in Camden, NJ and previously resided in Millville, NJ for many years, before spending the last several years in Cape May Court House. He retired from the Woodbine State School, where he had worked as a powerhouse operator.

James loved to go camping in his free time. He enjoyed going to lunch on Wednesdays with his friends Mike, Mary, and Bill. He also enjoyed going to Friday dinners at the VFW and on trips to Lancaster, PA with his friends.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join with the Dowd family for a viewing on Wednesday February 15, 2023 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad St., Millville, NJ. A prayer service will begin at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Millville, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of James to Shriners Hospitals for Children, PO Box 947765, Atlanta, GA 30394.
