James R. Boughter Obituary

James (Jim) Boughter, age 97, of Millville NJ passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025 after a long illness. Jim was born in 1928 to William Boughter and Hazel Ohl in Bloomsburg, PA. He was predeceased by his brother William Boughter, and sisters Claire Boughter, Mildred Blass, and Frances (Patsy) Kemp.

Jim’s life was defined by service, dedication, and creativity. After graduating from Bloomsburg (PA) High School, he answered the call to serve his country during World War II as a member of the U.S. Army. During the war, he was stationed at a military hospital in Michigan. Jim worked as a special educator, teaching basic skills to soldiers recovering from traumatic brain injuries. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he pursued his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering at Bucknell University on the GI bill.

His professional career spanned decades, including positions at Corning Glass, Wheaton Glass, and Carr Lowry Glass. He also spent two years in England as Managing Director of three Franciscan China plants, a testament to his leadership and expertise. Beyond his work, he had a true passion for restoring classic antique cars and loved expressing his creativity through oil painting on canvas. He found joy in being a member of various car enthusiast clubs, like the Delaware Valley Car Club and volunteering at the Millville Motorsports Park of NJ.

Jim is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Gail Boughter (Flaherty), his sister Vivian Gayeskie, his daughter Paula McDermott and husband Leo; his sons, William Boughter, James Boughter and wife Cindy; as well as his stepchildren Francis Nisco Jr., and partner Linda Lombari, and Kerry Nisco and her husband Douglas Summiel, along with many beloved grandchildren.

Jim will be deeply missed, but his spirit and the love he shared will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. Memories of Jim and condolences for his family may be shared on his tribute wall.
