Ida Mae (Doran) Rice, age 92 of Vineland, and formerly of Millville, passed away, Thursday morning, April 11, 2013 at Bishop McCarthy Residence in Vineland.
Born in New Brunswick, she had lived in Millville for over 60 years.
For five years, Mrs. Rice worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone. For the next 30 years, she worked as a sewing machine operator for Maree Sportswear and retired.
Mrs. Rice was a member of the ILGWU. She loved to crochet and knit, do crossword puzzles, read, and spend time with her family.
Mrs. Rice is survived by her children, John Rice and wife JoAnn of Millville, Ivy Simpkins of Millville, and Ray Rice of Sicklerville; her brother Ben Doran of Oswego, NY; her daughter in law Wendy of Williamstown; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Wayne Rice; her parents, Benjamin and Alice M. (Reid) Doran; and her siblings, Sarah, Ruth, Edna, Frank, Joe and Ed.
Funeral services and burial in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to Bishop McCarthy Residence, 1045 E. Chestnut Ave., Vineland, NJ 08360 or to the Cumberland County SPCA, 1244 N. Delsea Drive, Vineland, NJ 08360.
