Hobert Bartley "Muggy" Phillips, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 22nd, 2026. A lifelong resident of Millville, NJ, Muggy was born in Bridgeton, NJ, and spent his life enriching the lives of those around him with his warmth, humor, and kindness.

Muggy was a dedicated Line Supervisor at ARC/Durand in Millville, NJ, where he worked diligently and formed lasting friendships with his colleagues. His passion for life extended beyond his work; he cherished spending time with his son, Thomas "Taz" Phillips, and his family. Muggy found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as cooking, fishing, attending baseball games, and enjoying outings to Ocean City, MD. He was known for his love of good food, often sharing meals with his dear friends, and for his love of his first dog Stormy and his current dog Apollo.

Muggy is survived by his devoted wife, Charlotte Phillips, and his son, Thomas "Taz" Phillips. He also leaves behind his siblings: Zeb Phillips Jr. (Theresa), Sue Skinner, William Phillips, Mike Phillips, Charlene Phillips (Charles), and Arlene Roedell (late Ron). Muggy was a cherished godfather to two and a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. He will be fondly remembered by his mother-in-law, Clare Hughes, and his sister-in-law, Celestine "Tina" Dyson (David).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Zeb Phillips Sr. and Annie Phillips, as well as his father-in-law, Thomas Tomlinson.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at a viewing to be held at Christy Funeral Home, 11 West Broad St., Millville, NJ, on Friday, January 30th, 2026, from 9:30 am to 11:00 am. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am, with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Millville, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Muggy's memory to the Cumberland County SPCA, 1244 N. Delsea Dr., Vineland, NJ 08360, reflecting his love for his animals. Memories of Muggy and condolences for his family may be shared on his tribute wall.
