Gloria Jean Vineyard (nee Bailey) went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. Born in Millville Hospital, NJ on January 29, 1952 to Elwood F. and Bertha W. (Ford) Bailey, she grew up in Mauricetown and lived there for many years, also residing in Bridgeton and Millville for a time. She was a 1970 graduate of MSHS. After high school, she went on to enjoy a long, rewarding career as a LPN, starting out at Millville Hospital before spending 30 years with Cumberland Manor in Hopewell, retiring in 2012.
Gloria held many interests throughout her life and was always up for an adventure. She enjoyed swimming, camping, bird watching, playing bingo, and was an avid Phillies fan. She also enjoyed going to Engelbert Humperdinck concerts and listening to his music. She was a member of Purple Martins Red Hats, attended Mauricetown United Methodist Church in her youth and later Millville Church of the Nazarene. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and friends and was especially close with her nieces and nephew. Always eager for a party, she enjoyed celebrating holidays and family birthdays. She also traveled extensively with her family, including road trips to Tennessee, Florida, Niagara Falls, and cruises to Bermuda, Alaska and Canada. As health problems became more serious in her later years, she never missed an opportunity to tell people how much she loved her family and how well they took care of her.
Gloria is survived by her sister (Bertha) Elaine and brother-in-law Louis R. Barber III of Leesburg; brother and sister-in-law Elwood "Swampy" and Peg Bailey of Mauricetown, sister-in-law Patricia V. Bailey, also of Mauricetown; nephew, Louis R Barber IV and wife Dr. Stella Barber of Leesburg, niece Claire Simmerman and husband Steven of Vineland, great-niece Alison Barber and partner Jake Boggs of Leesburg; niece Tracy and husband Drew Conlow and family of Millville; and niece Stephanie Bailey and partner Randy Carpenter of Brownstown, IL; as well as lifelong friends Belva Jane "BJ" Tomlin and Patti Morgan She is also survived by best friend and former roommate John DeFrancisco and dear friend Judy Kessler. She was predeceased by father Elwood (1981), mother Bertha (1997) and brother James Harrison (2019), along with aunts, uncles and cousins in her extended Ford family.
