George E. Freeman Sr., age 93 of Millville, passed away Monday evening, September 9, 2013 at his residence with his family by his side.
Born in Millville to the late George and Edna (Berry) Freeman, he was a lifelong resident.
He served in the Civil Conservation Corps in Cape May County. Mr. Freeman then began serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. prior to the start of W.W.II, and served as a Private First Class in the Pacific Theatre. He participated in Battles at Eniwetok Atoll in the Marshall Islands, serving a total of four years.
For many years, he worked as a machine operator for Wheaton Glass Co. and retired in 1981. He then worked part-time for the Millville Housing Authority in the Maintenance Dept.
He was a member of the GBBA Local No. 7. He loved his family, camping, fishing, clamming and he was an Eagles fan.
Mr. Freeman is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Doris (Gale); his children, Nancy Hanlon and husband Paul of Millville, George E. Freeman Jr. and Mary of Laurel Lake, and Carol Reiser and husband Charles of Millville; 11 grandchildren; many great grandchildren, many great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
