Frederick Carl Baxter Obituary

Frederick “Haywood” Carl Baxter Sr. (84) Born in Millville, New Jersey, on September 20, 1941, he passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026.

He attended Millville High School and went on to work as a “tin knocker” for 53 years at Wheaton Glass until his retirement.

Fred was known for his love of all creatures. He adored his husky and cats, and he was especially passionate about frogs, simply listening to them was his zen. He enjoyed home-cooked meals, barbecuing with family and friends, watching sci-fi movies, boating, fishing, trips to the boardwalk, being in the ocean, taking rides to Fortescue, and riding motorcycles.

Fred’s greatest and most cherished accomplishment in life was the family he created and loved above all else. He is survived by his “Old Lady,” Rose Parent, his wife and lifelong best friend of 43 years. Together, they raised five children: Julie Wilson, Fred Baxter Jr., Jeanette (Jeff) Pepper, Terri Baxter Hansen, and Vanna Baxter.

He is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Jaclyn (Colin) Kent, Jared (Crystal) Baxter, Lewis Pezzella Jr., Christopher McNaughton, Trinity Hansen, Angelina Pepper, Skyler Baxter, Faithlyn Menone, Kevin (“K3”) Hansen III, and Travis Pepper, his buddy and “birthday twin.”

He is further survived by 2 great-grandchildren: Elijah Baxter and Lucas Baxter.

Fred is also survived by his only living brother, Donald Baxter; his sister-in-law, Lisa (Dave) Gressman; his brother-in-law and friend, Lance Parent; as well as many nieces, nephews, and all the “bonus kids” who grew up and became part of the family.

He was predeceased by his parents, Harriet (nee Weber) and Thomas Baxter; his daughter, Terry Baxter; his brothers and sisters: Joyce and Joe Panzner, Clarance Baxter, Carol and Wayne Saul, Harry and Sue Baxter, his twin brother Frank Baxter, and Thomas Baxter Jr.; as well as his mother-in-law, Virginia Gressman, and father-in-law, Melvin Parent Jr.

Fred was loved immensely, and he will be profoundly missed by everyone who knew him. Through the stories we share, he will never be forgotten. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Bayada Hospice for their care and compassion.

A viewing will be held on Thursday April 30, 2026 from 9:00 to 11:00 am at Christy Funeral Home, 11 West Broad St., Millville, NJ. Family remembrances and eulogies will begin at 11:00 am.
