Edgar Knoll Obituary

Edgar Martin "Ed" Knoll, Jr., age 79, of Millville, NJ passed away on Sunday April 23, 2023 at home with his loving family by his side. He is predeceased by his parents Edgar M. Knoll Sr., and Lillian Reeves (nee Fowler) and his brother Russell Knoll. Ed is survived by his partner of 46 years Charles Moses, his sister Kathy Knoll Bailey, sister-in-law Darlene Knoll, nieces Kristie Knoll, Erin Bailey, and Amy McGowan, nephews Patrick Bailey and Shaun Plummer, as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.

Ed was born in Atlantic City, NJ and was a longtime resident of Millville. He graduated from Millville High School, Class of 1961. He worked as a dispatcher for LoBiondo Bros Motor Express in Rosenhayn, retiring after 47 years.

When Ed was a teenager, he spent time at LeeChester Hall dancing to all the current hits and remained an avid dancer. He attended Woodstock and many concerts and Broadway shows over the years. He enjoyed the shore and basking in the sun. He also enjoyed traveling to New England, Florida, and Top Sail Island, NC.

Ed loved music and his music interests were very varied and he collected music in all genres. He had a large collection of vinyl albums and still had all of the 45 rpm records from his youth.

Ed adored his dogs: Chichi, Bonnie, and Manny; all of whom were rescues. They were his babies and they couldn't have found a better home than with Ed and Charlie. He would always talk to people on his walks with his dogs. Ed made many friends on those walks over the years.

Dining out was another favorite thing for Ed. He was a huge fan of Winfield's in Millville while it was open. He also enjoyed eating at Longhorn in Millville, where many of the servers and other staff became like family to him. When it opened, he and Charlie were some of the first to dine there and quickly found Eileen, a daytime bartender, who adopted them as "hers." Table 11, she told them, was where they were to sit and no where else. If Eileen was working, that is where they sat. When they were leaving the restaurant, they called good-bye to her and she would call back "Smooches!" Although Eileen no longer works at the restaurant, Ed was still in touch with her and each text from Eileen ended with "Smooches!"

Cremation will be held privately. A celebration of Ed's life will be held on what would be his 80th birthday, August 26th, 2023. A time and location for the celebration will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ed's memory can be made to South Jersey Animal Shelter, 1244 N. Delsea Dr., Vineland, NJ, or Angelic Hospice, 8025 Black Horse Pike, Suite 501, West Atlantic City, NJ 08232. Condolences may be shared on the tribute wall.
