Constance Sheppard Obituary

Constance "Connie" H. (Terhune) Sheppard, age 79 of Millville passed away Sunday morning, January 12, 2014 at Inspira Medical Center, Vineland.
Born February 1, 1934 in Hackensack, she lived in North Jersey, lastly in Pompton Plains, before moving to South Jersey.
She graduated from William Paterson University with a degree in education. For 18 and a half years, Mrs. Sheppard taught school at the Technical School of Camden County, where she became a Program Director for the Medical Assistant Program. She is credited with getting that program certified by the American Medical Association and the American Association of Medical Assts. In 1988, Mrs. Sheppard left the school system to take over the family business - Millville Launderers and Dry Cleaners. She succeeded in becoming a Women's Business Enterprise, (one of the first in the state), under the Affirmative Action Program State of NJ. She retired in 2001.
Mrs. Sheppard was an avid churchgoer, having served on several committees, and as an Elder and Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church on the Maurice River in Millville. She was a member of the Camden County Retired Teachers Association, the Shekinah Chapter of the Eastern Star, and the Millville Woman's Club. Mrs. Sheppard enjoyed being with her family, reading, walking her dog, Ben, playing Bridge and singing in the church choir. She and her late husband, Seward were very passionate about their trips to Kauai, where they spent much time together.
Mrs. Sheppard is predeceased by her husband Seward E. Sheppard Jr. She is survived by two sons, S. Rick Sheppard of Orlando, FL, and W. Scott Sheppard and wife Suzanne Taft-Sheppard of Millville; two grandchildren, S. Joshua and Hannah Nicole, who gave her great joy and happiness, along with her companion dog, Ben.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church on the Maurice River, 119 N. Second Street, Millville. Family and friends will be received Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad Street, Millville. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Millville.
The family requests memorial contributions to the First Presbyterian Church, 119 N. Second Street, Millville, NJ 08332.
