Catherine Janice (Manduke) Romanik Obituary

Catherine "Kathy" Janice (Manduke) Romanik, age 65 of Millville, passed away unexpectedly Friday evening, October 25, 2024 at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland.

Kathy was born in Bridgeton to the late George and Irene (Krupka) Manduke.  She was a lifelong Millville resident, graduated from Millville High School, Class of 1977, and graduated from Upsala College in East Orange.  Soon after graduation Kathy began working for the Cumberland County Board of Social Services, and over 30 years later, she retired as a Supervisor.

She was an active member of the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Millville, which included the church choir and the Ukrainian National Home, and she was the secretary of the St. Nicholas Ukrainian American Club.

Kathy had many interests. She loved to bake and cook, and her cheesecakes, peach cobblers, and Ukrainian paskas were favorites of all who knew her! As an avid tennis enthusiast, she played throughout high school and college, and continued to follow the world of tennis till the end. Kathy also loved the beach and spent many summer days on 97th Street in Stone Harbor with family and a beloved group of lifelong friends. Kathy shared a love of all Philly sports with her three siblings, but also maintained a quirky love of the old Oakland Raiders, and her tastes in music ranged from true classical all the way to the Rolling Stones. But by far, polkas and polka dancing were surely at the top of her list!

Kathy will be sadly missed by her husband of 31 years, James "Jim" Romanik; her son Mayor Benjamin Romanik; two sisters, Bernadine Rose, and Michelle Kavanagh and her husband Kevin; four brothers in law, Richard Romanik and his wife Kay, Gary Romanik and his wife Cindy, Edward Romanik and his wife Nina, and John Romanik; one sister in law Jane Sooy and her husband John; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was predeceased by her brother George A.M. Manduke.

A Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024 in the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 824 Carmel Road, Millville.  Family and friends will be received on Thursday, October 31, 2024 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday, November 1, 2024 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad Street, Millville.  A Panachyda Service will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2024 in the funeral home.  Burial will be in the family plot in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family of Kathy requests memorial contributions to the Ukrainian National Home, 801 Carmel Road, Millville, NJ 08332.  Memories of Catherine Romanik and condolences to her family can be shared on the tribute wall.
