Carmen D. Barlam Obituary

Carmen D. Barlam, age 90 of Millville, passed away at the Inspira Medical Center, Vineland on April 4, 2014.
Born in Cedarville, he spent most of his life in Millville.
From 1943 to 1946, Mr. Barlam served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a Pfc. Rifleman, and he participated in the campaigns of Normandy and Northern France. He received a European Campaign Medal with two bronze stars, while serving in the European Theatre. He served with Company I, First Infantry.
For 44 years, Mr. Barlam worked as a forklift driver for Armstrong Cork Co., Kerr Glass and Foster Forbes and retired.
He was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Roman Catholic Church, Parish of All Saints in Millville. He was also a member of the American Legion Nabb-Leslie, Post No. 82, Millville Elks, Knights of Columbus, GMP Union, a former member of the Teamsters Union, and Past Commander of the VFW, Post No. 2169. He enjoyed taking trips and socializing at family gatherings.
Mr. Barlam is survived by his wife of 68 years, Alice (Mead) Barlam; his adopted daughter Diane Pearl; one sister Mary (Barlam) DelCollo; nieces, Immaculate (Mackie) DelCollo Harris, Linda Barlam Middleton, Diane Barlam Geddis; nephew Robert Barlam; and many other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Florence; his father Dominick Barlam; three brothers, Paul Barlam, James Barlam, and Albert Barlam; and one sister Beatrice (Barlam) LaPolambara.
A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2014 in the Parish of All Saints, Buck and Depot Street, Millville. There will be a viewing on Thursday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad Street, Millville. Burial, with military honors, will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Millville.
