Alyce (Samano) Kudla age 76 of Millville passed away Friday, March 17, 2023 at Inspira Medical Center, Vineland with her family by her side.
Born in Wildwood to the late Norman and Theresa (Larro) Samano, she grew up in Millville and graduated from Millville High School in 1964. In 1966 she graduated from Harcum Junior College with an Associate Degree, and in 1969 she graduated from Glassboro State College with a Bachelor of Education.
For 35 years Alyce worked as a school teacher. Her first year of teaching was spent at Culver School, and the next 34 years she spent at Rieck Avenue School. Over the years Alyce taught third grade, then second grade, then first grade.
Alyce was a past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She loved visiting drive-in movies up and down the east coast with Nick. She was one of the "ladies of stitch" and enjoyed creating tacky table favors. She was known for her orneriness and her pink flamingoes here and there. She enjoyed reading tacky romance novels and murder mysteries, as well as doing jigsaw puzzles, feeding her birds, and doing things for other people. She truly treasured the time she was able to share with family and friends, especially with her "stitch ladies" ornery group.
Alyce will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews, Jeremiah Kudla of Glassboro, Michelle Kudla of Millville, Stephen Kudla and wife Crystal of Maurice River Twp, Alex Kudla of Millville, and Lisa Garrison of Millville; sister in law Ann Garrison and husband Carl of Millville; brother in law Wasil Kudla of Millville; sister in law Maria Walley and husband Steve of Douglasville, PA; her great nieces and nephews Gabrielle, Grace, Peter, Jacob, and Jackie; and her extended family Becky and Don Nickels of Glassboro. She was predeceased by her husband Nykola "Nick" Kudla in 2019.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 27, 2023 in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad Street, Millville. Family and friends will be received on Monday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Millville.
In memory of Alyce Kudla, the family requests memorial contributions to the Tuckerton Seaport Maritime Museum, 120 W. Main Street, Tuckerton, NJ 08087.
