Bertie Prato, 81, of Vineland, NJ, passed away on May 15th, 2024 surrounded by family and friends. She was born in Barnsboro, PA to the late Albert and Eva Lute and raised by her foster parents Frank and Alda Javos. She was preceded in death by her beloved spouse, Angelo Prato.

Bertie dedicated 25 years of her life as a residential living specialist at Vineland Developmental Center where she cared for her clients like they were her own children. In her free time, she volunteered with the SPCA, served as a hospice volunteer, assisted with the food pantry and participated in Bible study. Bertie was a member of the Ladies Ministry and Grief Share groups, where she found joy in supporting others.

She is survived by her siblings Eleanor Leshinsky, Chuck Leshinsky, Aggie Lute, Bunnie Lute, Myrt Godfrey, Reena Thomas, Vicki Baran, Sally Burgess, Gary Javos and many nieces and nephews. Bertie was a selfless individual, always helping others by taking them to appointments, bringing vegetables to relatives and friends, and spreading kindness wherever she went.

A closed casket visitation will be held at Christy Funeral Home, 11 West Broad St., Millville, NJ on Monday, May 20th, 2024 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 am. Interment will follow at Siloam Cemetery in Vineland, NJ. Memories of Aunt Bertie and condolences for her family may be shared on the tribute wall.
