Albert M. "Pete" Lewis Jr., age 75 of Millville, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the South Jersey Regional Medical Center, Vineland. He had been in declining health for the past three years.
Born in Camden, Mr. Lewis grew up in Millville, and graduated from Millville High School, class of 1957.
He worked at Wheaton Glass Co., and then joined the U.S. Army. He served two years in the Military Police at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and when he returned, he worked for Maul Brothers. He then worked for Wheaton Glass Co. as a Mold Maker and Machinist, and then he worked for Ace Glass Shop in Vineland as a Supervisor. For two years, he managed the glass factory at Wheaton Village. Mr. Lewis also had his own glass shop, where he made paperweights, crimps and molds. He was interviewed by several authors for publications on paperweights for his knowledge in glass. He had also worked with Ray and Bob Banford in making glass paperweights.
Mr. Lewis was a member of the B.P.O. Elks of Millville, the American Legion Nabb-Leslie, Post No. 82 of Millville, and the Free and Accepted Masons.
Mr. Lewis is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sarah M. (Warren); one son Paul E. Lewis of Millville; his daughter Jennifer M. Lewis of Florence; one sister Elizabeth Bender and husband Richard of Millville; three nieces, Cathy Omahne and husband Scott, Brenda Warren Saunders, and Trisha Lee and husband Charles; and one nephew Jason Bender.
Private services will be at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are under the direction of Christy Funeral Home, Millville.
