Albert E. "Al" Chard Sr., age 74 of Millville, passed away Thursday evening, February 6, 2025 at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, NJ.
  
He was born in Millville to the late Salum E. Chard Sr. and Evelyn N. (Beebe).  Albert graduated from Millville High School, Class of 1969 and was a life long resident. 
  
He began working as a Machinist at Maul Bros. and then for the next 26 years he worked for the State of New Jersey as a Corrections Officer and retired in 1999 as a Lieutenant.  During his retirement he earned a boiler license and was employed at several companies in the area.
 
 Albert enjoyed watching NASCAR, drag racing and football. He was a car enthusiast, and a few of his favorite pastimes were skiing, hunting and fishing.  He was also a very talented woodcarver.

Albert will be sadly missed by his wife of 47 years, Susan (Kinsella); his children, Hillary Semus (Dean) of Broomfield, CO, and Albert E. Chard Jr. (Jaina) of Millville; five sisters, Naomi Lindsay (Randy), Linda Almanza, Kathleen Vaughn, Cindy Vazquez (Pete) and April Gendusa; two grandchildren, Alaina Chard and Rebecca Chard; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was predeceased by his brother Salum E. Chard Jr.
 
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025 in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad Street, Millville.  Family and friends will be received on Saturday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the funeral home.  Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
